 Introduction

Despite what the salesman tells you - every modern motorcycle has compromises normally instigated by accountants rather than engineers. One such compromise is the materials used for the brake hoses on your motorcycle. Rubber hoses or mild steel fittings are cheap but we all know how rubber hose bulges under pressure, allows brake fluid to absorb water vapour from the atmosphere and that mild steel fittings rust....

We manufacture a complete replacement stainless steel brake line kit for any motorcycle which is fitted with a hydraulic brake system and as we only ever use stainless steel fittings for the motorcycle marketplace so we can offer the HEL Lifetime Warranty on all brake line kits.

They are manufactured from the highest quality stainless steel swaged fittings permanently attached to a stainless steel braided Teflon hose. 

The HEL Performance Brake Line fittings offer safety, security and a slim line attractive finish. All hoses can be supplied to the FMVSS-106 standard and the kits contain all items required for a complete installation including stainless steel banjo bolts and copper washers.

Plain Stainless Steel Fittings 

We only ever use stainless steel fittings for the motorcycle marketplace so we can offer the HEL Lifetime Warranty on all brake line kits. We have again changed the industry for the better by informing riders of the dangers of using Aluminium brakeline fittings on stainless steel hose. When an aluminium fitting is placed on a stainless steel hose and the two parts are contaminated by salt water a reaction takes place between the metals which corrodes the aluminium fitting - Don't settle for anything other than stainless steel....

PVC Protective Covers 

                                            Our brake line kits can also be provided with a pvc cover available in either clear, red,              

                                            yellow, blue, neon blue, orange, black, purple, deep purple, green or carbolook to protect

                                            paintwork and fairings.

 
                                            This pvc cover is extruded onto the hose during manufacture so it adheres to the braid and

                                            does not ripple like heat shrink covers normally do. We only ever supply our hoses with this

                                            protective cover and since introducing them to the marketplace other companies have followed

                                            our lead and we are proud that the quality initiatives we put in place are imitated within the

                                            industry.

Coloured Stainless Steel Fittings 

                                           We are aware that some customer's like the colour combinations offered by ally fittings but

                                           require the strength of stainless steel which is why we have brought out a new range of coloured

Motorcycle Oil Lines

                                    Most motorcycle engines have a lubrication system that includes an oil pump, some form of oil tank

                                    and a delivery system. Any external oil lines on a bike have a very hard life which may see internal

                                    temperatures exceeding 100 degrees centigrade and external temperatures dropping below freezing.

                                    They have to be capable of withstanding pressure over 100 pounds per square inch, remain flexible if

                                    made of rubber or resist fracturing if made of metal...

What do they have to withstand ?

All this and the ability to withstand engine vibration and exposure to extreme weather conditions... But there is a cure - Any original manufacturers oil lines can be replaced using the HEL range of high performance oil hose and fittings. Our range of stainless steel braided oil hose offers a minimum burst pressure of 5,000 psi, features a patented AQP elastomer which is resistant to oxidation, the effects of ozone and various other agents within air...

How much energy does an engine produce ?

We all know that the internal combustion engine is not as efficient as it could be. It loses energy through friction and heat loss. But what most people are unaware of is how much energy is lost as heat and how much more heat is created from the same engine once it has been tuned... The potential energy which goes in through the carburettors of a mild road going four stroke 750cc four cylinder engine is about 350bhp - Yet the amount of power it actually produces is approximately 90bhp - Real power is generally 25 - 30% of potential. The rest goes in overcoming friction of the moving parts, pumping air in, out and around the engine, exiting through the exhaust and in heat loss. 

In fact more than 30% of the potential power is wasted as heat energy - more than is produced as useable power... 

Why doesn't the engine melt ?

Why doesn't the engine melt ? Where does all the heat go ? It goes into the oil, the body of the engine and into the oil cooler. And if the bike doe not have a cooler ? - Well if it has enough fins and a massive amount of air to cool everything it may be okay - otherwise expect short engine life, seizure, breakdown of the oil....

Engine oil works best between 70 and 80 degrees centigrade although it's generally safe up to 100 degrees centigrade. Oil stops doing it's job when it gets too hot. So you can now see the importance of fitting an oil cooler to your bike to improve cooling efficiency and improve power. Take a look at any racing bike - the oem cooler has been removed and replaced with a larger more efficient oil cooler to maximise power...

The hoses are manufactured from Aeroquip high performance stainless steel braided hose with either Aeroquip aluminium reusable fittings or HEL stainless steel permanently attached fittings.
